What I love about Cyprus weddings
May 19, 2014
As a Cypriot wedding planner who represents the island, I get asked this question a lot. Most of the times I answer with the obvious: the amazing and guaranteed sunshine which makes all the wedding photographs become even more stunning and of course, the beautiful beaches which can just be the perfect addition to everyone's wedding holidays..However, apart from that, there are so much more that I love about Cyprus and I would love everyone to know about.
First of all, I love the Cypriot people, always smiley, always happy. I am not sure if it is the bright colours of the sky or the lovely sounds of birds, but the people who live in Cyprus are always with a big smile on their faces, enjoying every moment in life, and make the most of it.That of course extends to your suppliers who will be the happiest and most passionate people to be around and trust for your wedding. With these people surrounding the island and your wedding specifically, your wedding becomes an even happier event full of giggles of happiness and joy. Your smily and full of energy and passion suppliers, will not just give you an amazing wedding but they will also be your new life lasting friends.
Extending the fact that Cyprus is full of happy people, with my theory that where there are happy people, there is also happy delicious food, I have to admit that the food in Cyprus is mine and many of my couple's favourite food. My favourite moment was when I took my hubby in Cyprus for the first time and he tried the delicious BBQs in the summer nights under the moonlight. I still remember him saying that Cyprus is the kingdom of BBQs. It stick in my mind and deep inside me I do agree - the BBQs in Cyprus are in my heart. With this kind of food in your wedding, everyone will be satisfied and ready to party and dance and wish you a happy ever after!
The natural beauty of the island is of course something wonderful and magical. Locations such as the Cape Greco caves and the Aphrodite's Rock are two of the most popular spots for location photographs that can create magical atmosphere for breathtaking photographs. These and countless other spots can create an absolutely stunning and unforgettable setting for your wedding photographs. Apart from the beauty, these spots are most of the times also linked with myths of love, making it even more romantic. After all, remember thatCyprus is known to be the birthplace of the goddess of love, Aphrodite and is such a great concept being married in this lovely island.
And last but not least, I should say how much I love that any kind of wedding can be accommodated in our little but so beautiful island. Cyprus is an island which offers more than just golden sandy beach perfect weddings. It is an island that offers many different kinds of weddings such as beautiful antique churches (Anglican and Catholics), weddings in boats in the Mediterranean sea, wonderland weddings up in the mountains, barn weddings in the villages, villa weddings overlooking the sea and so much more. Whatever your dream wedding is, Cyprus can match it perfectly, so why look further?
Concluding, I must say that I can talk forever about Cyprus but as you might say I am biased myself. I am from Cyprus so I love the island most than every other location in the world. Thus, I choose to finish the blog by remembering Giorgos Seferis. Giorgos Seferis was a Greek Poet diplomat who was awarded with the Nobel Prize of Literature "of he's eminent lyrical writing, inspired by a deep feeling for the Hellenic world of culture". In 1953, he travelled in Cyprus for a month's vacations. He immediately fell in love with the island, partly because of its resemblance, the landscape, the mixture of populations, and its traditions. He's love is all expressed in he's poems of Imerologio Katastromatos III which was inspired by the island and mostly it was written in Cyprus, bringing to an end a period of six or seven years in which Seferis had not produced any poetry.
Cyprus, an inspiring island...
